This report by C-DEP focuses on the challenges faced by Indian industries that are competitive, but are facing injuries from foreign companies that are misusing their overcapacities to sell products in India at costs lower than what it costs in their respective domestic markets. Such large-scale dumping is depriving Indian industries of a level-playing field. There is a need for remedies such as anti-dumping duties. However, as this report highlights, recommendations by the Director General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Ministry of Commerce to impose such duties are being rejected in increasing numbers in recent years.
