Dr. Jaijit Bhattacharya insightful perspectives on the Budget 2024 expectations ahead of PM Modi’s last budget at NDTV. We expected the budget to address impact of AI on jobs and potential challenges in creating new opportunities. Also as per the precedence of 2019, we did not expect a populist budget. Revising income tax slabs for growth faces constraints due to increased defence and infrastructure spends. Key priorities: Increased safeguards for Indian domestic industry such as PVC suspension, critical minerals such as Molybdenum, key pharma ingrediants such as isopropyl alcohol etc and more funds for education , and tackling the carbon footprint.
