By C-DEP Team

New Delhi, July 25: The Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research (C-DEP) is set to host a workshop on ‘Public Safety in the Digital Age’ at IIT Delhi on Wednesday. Being organised in partnership with Axon Inc, a company focused on transforming public safety with technology, the workshop will address some of the key aspects that societies are confronted with and explore how technological interventions can make the public safety regime more secure, civil, and conducive to humanity.

The event is to be attended by senior bureaucrats and police officials besides academicians and students.

The workshop is being held against the backdrop of rising concerns over public safety in the era of rapid digitisation. A particular area of concern has been cybercrimes that have emerged as a pervasive threat, encompassing hacking, data breaches, online scams, and identity theft.

Besides exploring means to protect individuals’ privacy and financial safety, the discussions will also focus on the dark web which provides a platform for a host of illegal activities that undermine law enforcement efforts.

The keynote address at the workshop will be delivered by former Uttar Pradesh Director General Police, Mr OP Singh.

The workshop will have sessions on Digital Technology and Public Safety; Personal Body Armour – New Horizons of Human Safety; Public Safety in Digital Age with Global Best Practices; Road Safety: An Integral Component of Public Safety; and Industrial Safety and Security: An Indian Perspective.

The workshop will be held at IIT’s Research and Innovation Park auditorium.
