E-governance services offered through government portals provide a convenient one-stop solution for citizens, businesses, and government employees. These portals enable integrated access to various public services, even if they are managed by different departments or authorities. Achieving such integration, which involves processes, data, and technology at the backend, is a complex undertaking. It determines the level of e-government maturity, and higher maturity levels make it easier to establish a comprehensive government portal. This paper focuses on the importance of interoperability, both vertical and horizontal, in creating an effective one-stop government portal in India.
